Sector: Food Processing
System: Gent Vigilon
Scope: Service and Maintenance
Budget: Circa £25-30K per annum
Advanced Fire Solutions have been maintaining the fire alarm systems at Nakano in Bury St Edmunds (previously Premier Foods) since 2009.
The system comprises a network of Gent Vigilon control panels, and presents some particular challenges for a fire alarm system, including high humidity, chillers and wash down areas.
Since taking over the maintenance of the site, Advanced Fire Solutions engineers have made a number of changes to the systems to improve usability and reliability, including the employment of detection devices and techniques to reduce the number of false alarms and the rezoning of the site and provision of framed zone charts by each panel to aid in the location of a fire incident.
This client has particular requirements of their maintenance partners, due to the nature of their business, all maintenance has to be carried out outside of normal hours and at times to suit the production schedule, and all work is carried out in close co-operation with the site engineering team.
